Step-by-Step Guide to Renting a House in Rwanda through DHM (Diaspora Home Management):

Step 1: Browse Available Listings

Visit the DHM website or mobile app to access the comprehensive database of rental properties in Rwanda. You can search for houses, apartments, or other types of properties in different cities and regions across the country.

Step 2: Define Your Preferences

Narrow down your search by specifying your preferences. You can filter properties based on factors such as location, size, number of bedrooms, amenities, and budget. DHM provides an easy-to-use interface that allows you to customise your search according to your needs.

Step 3: Contact DHM Representative

Once you’ve found a property that interests you, contact a DHM representative via email, phone, or through the website. They will guide you through the process and address any queries you may have about the property or rental procedures.

Step 4: Property Viewing

If you’re in Rwanda, DHM will arrange a property viewing for you. You’ll be taken to the location to inspect the house or apartment personally. In case you are abroad, DHM may offer virtual tours or provide detailed images and videos of the property.

Step 5: Lease Agreement and Documentation

If you decide to proceed with a rental property, DHM will assist you in preparing the lease agreement. They will explain the terms and conditions, rental duration, and any other essential details. You’ll be required to submit necessary documents for verification, including identification, proof of income, and references.

Step 6: Payment and Security Deposit

Upon signing the lease agreement, you’ll need to make the initial payment, which typically includes the first month’s rent and a security deposit (usually equivalent to one or two months’ rent). DHM will guide you through the payment process and ensure all transactions are secure.

Step 7: Handover of the Property

On the agreed-upon move-in date, DHM will facilitate the handover of the property. You’ll receive the keys and conduct a joint inspection of the property to document its condition. Any pre-existing damages or issues will be recorded to avoid disputes during the lease period.

Step 8: Ongoing Support

Throughout your tenancy, DHM will be available to assist with any property-related concerns, including maintenance and repairs. If there are any issues or disputes with the property, DHM will mediate and ensure a satisfactory resolution.

Step 9: End of Lease

As your lease period approaches its end, DHM will assist in the lease renewal process if desired. If you decide to move out, DHM will guide you through the property handover and the return of the security deposit, provided there are no damages beyond normal wear and tear.

Step 10: Optional Services

Additionally, DHM offers various services to make your stay in Rwanda more comfortable, such as travel and accommodation arrangements, logistics support, and information on investment opportunities in real estate.

Renting a house in Rwanda through DHM ensures that you receive professional support and a seamless rental experience, even if you are located abroad.
